The Faculty of Applied Science divided into the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Metallurgy in 1917. Metallurgy was previously a department from 1884. The Faculty of Metallurgy was renamed the Faculty of Materials Technology in 1969 and later became the Faculty of Materials in 1973. The Faculty of Materials incorporated into the Faculty of Engineering in 1987. After 1987 Engineering records are available within the ENG sub fonds.
