Mel Calman 'Threads' cartoon, 25 September 1984
Cartoon drawn by Mel Calman which shows a person reading a newspaper with the headline 'Reagan's Peace Speech' and a second person with a mug asking "Do you think he saw 'Threads'?" It is suggested that there is good evidence that 40th President of the USA Ronald Reagan watched and was influenced by 'Threads'.
Bill Tidy 'Kes' cartoon, 8 April 1970
Cartoon drawn by Bill Tidy depicting Odean cinema Doncaster with a sign at the door which states: 'World Charity premier of 'Kes' in the absence of H. M. the Queen & HRH Prince Philip'. The caption reads: 'We enjoy our films, and on special occasions we turn up in droves to see who's not going to be there.' The cartoon was given to Sheila Lemon, Barry Hines' agent, who then gave it to Hines.
Adapting South Yorkshire, 2015
Booklet about the project 'Adapting South Yorkshire' which was produced by English Literature undergraduate student Jessica Keen in collaboration with Dr David Forrest and Professor Sue Vice and funded by Sheffield Undergraduate Research Scheme (SURE). Keen curated an exhibition in the Western Bank Library which explored three of Hines' texts: 'The Price of Coal', 'The Gamekeeper' and 'Looks and Smiles'.
