Pencil sketch of intertwined initials 'BWC' detail at Coombe Warren. The initials stand for the name of the owner, Devey was commissioned by Bertram Wodehouse Currie (1827 - 1896) to design additions to Coombe Warren, and then to rebuild it after a fire in 1870.

In 1850, Lady Mary Foulis, only child and heiress of the last Foulis baronet of Ingleby Manor, married the 2nd Lord de Lisle and Dudley of Penshurst in Kent. One of Devey's early notable commissions had been rebuilding Penshurst Place for the Lord, beginning in 1851. Annotated with 'Ingleby Manor.
