Biographical / Historical
Jimmy Williams was a showman from a long fairground show family lineage.
Jimmy Williams was born in 1922 into a family of fairground showmen. He settled in Bradford Moor in the 1930s making fairground attractions such as targets with devices, which popped up when hit and models of fairground rides, which were made by James Towers Williams, part of a model making firm who were in production between 1952 and 1978.
During the winter months, Jimmy also worked at Whitehead’s Mill, where he met his wife Doris. Jimmy and Doris married in 1951 after Jimmy was demobilised from military service after WWII.
