Photograph of Laurina 'Topsy' Sanger, equestrian performer and eldest daughter of George Sanger and Ellen 'Nellie' nee Chapman. Laurina was born 23rd February 1853, at Cheadle. She was first noted as performing with Sanger's Circus, in 1865, in an equestrian scene. Laurina married Alexander Coleman, the clown 'Little Sandy', on 14th March 1874 and had four children Georgina (b.1874), Alexander 'Sandy' (b.1876, d.1886), Ellen 'Topsy' (b.1878, d.1969) and George (b.1880). Laurina died 14th October 1882, aged 29 years. She was buried in Margate Cemetery, in the Sanger plot.
