Biography

Patrick Charles Eugene Boone ‘Pat Boone’ was born on 1 June 1934 in Jacksonville, Florida. He is an American singer, composer, actor, writer, television personality, motivational speaker, and spokesman.

The Boone family moved to Nashville when Pat was a child. Pat started singing at Nashville's Centennial Park and by 1953, he had married Shirley Lee Foley (1934-2019) daughter of country music stars Red Foley and Judy Martin. Soon after record he started to raise the interest of record labels and he was signed by Republic Records in 1954 Dot Records the following year. Two years later Pat had become a celebrity and was starring in Hollywood films for 20th Century Fox.

In 1957 he started his own variety television show at ABC, The Pat Boone Chevy Showroom, which run for four years and he also made numerous appearances in other television shows over the years. Eventually he established his own film production company, Cooga Mooga Productions.

Although his early career focused on covering R&B and rock and roll music for the white American audience, by the 1960s, he had moved to gospel and country music. During the 1950s and 1960s, he wrote a series of self-help books for young people, some of which were best sellers.

His career as a singer had started to wane in the 1960s, although he continued recording and in the early 1970s, he founded the record label Lamb & Lion Records. Pat continued to be involved in music, religion and politics through the early part of the 2000s.
