Pryce, Elijah, 1847 - 1935

Biography

Elijah Pryce was born in Lambeth, London in January 1847. Elijah was the nephew of Moses Gompertz and became involved in the family Panorama business as a lecturer, manager and cinematographist.

Elijah married his first wife Caherine Susan Gompertz, daughter of his uncle Moses and his first coisin on 7 January 1874. Later he divorced Susan and married Clara Pryce.

Elijah also worked for Hengler’s Cirque and for a decade for Gompertz main competitors in the Panorama business, the Poole family.

Elijah travelled shows until he settled in Abertiller, South Wales to become a cinema manager. He died in December 1935.
