Biography

Tommy Green is a showman and fairground researcher with a long tradition in the Lancashire Section of the Guild. He is a keen writer and produces regular articles for the fairground journals as well as producing a book on his family roots with the Mitchell family. Among the books he has publisher are Greens for Caterpillars part 1 publishned in 2010 and part 2 published in 2012, which tell the story of Greens'caterpillar roundabouts. The ride was introduced in 1923, and the Green family were involved with the operation of four of these rides from that date.

This collection contains documents relating to fairgrounds collected by Tommy Green including photographs, paintings, manuscripts, correspondence, newspaper cuttings, cash books, programmes from Tydesley Wakes and plans of Bolton Fairs. Included in the collection are the Burrell photographs.
