The collection comprises the papers, including many press cuttings, of Joseph Madin, Sheffield trades-unionist and Labour Party activist, and co-founder of the Sheffield Labour College, circa 1913 to 1959. 'Scab' by Brynley Howard Gadd won an Award in 1986. The story is set in a striking Welsh mining village. The mine owner persuades a well-respected miner to return to work and prove the new equipment, that the miners are striking over, will help to increase coal production and bring prosperity to the village. It was selected by Mike Kirkup for the 1994 anthology. Attached is a signed copyright permission slip and competition entry form.

Scope and Contents The Blunkett Archives is an extensive collection which has been amassed by Lord Blunkett throughout his career, and records his journey from one of the poorest areas of Sheffield to the highest level of British politics.
