Scope and Contents
The collection consists of documents relating to the work of Howard Warrender, largely relating to his Latin and English editions of Hobbes´ "De Cive", 1983, which were his major publications. They include proofs, correspondence, articles and copies of various editions of "De Cive" and other works of Hobbes.

Biographical / Historical
Howard Warrender (1922-1985) was Professor of Political Theory and Institutions at the University of Sheffield from 1972 until his death in 1985. He died before he could fulfil the original design for a complete critical edition of the philosophical works of Hobbes.
