These recordings arose out of a project on 'Sheffield voices through time', conducted by the School of English, in collaboration with Sheffield Archives and Local Studies. The interviews were done by Hugh Escott.
The main focus of the project was to find written examples of Sheffield dialect in texts, and to explore how the speaker is represented.
