Biographical / Historical

The project was directed by Dr Kevin McKee, then of the Sheffield Institute for Studies on Ageing, which ran from February 2000 to May 2002.

This study evaluated the impact of three processes (life review, reminiscence, and disclosure) on older people’s quality of life, using alone, one-to-one and group work, and comparing talk-based with writing-based activity. A range of older people were recruited from residential and community settings, and received four sessions of reminiscence-based activity. They were assessed before the study, immediately after each session, and one month after the final session, on various quality of life outcomes to see whether reminiscence-type activities have an impact on the quality of life of older people.
