Includes: correspondence concerning Blunkett's admission to the Royal Normal College for the Blind in January 1960, including letters exchanged between the City of Sheffield Education Office and the College, and including Blunkett's application for the College, a report from Sheffield School for Blind Children, and medical information relating to his blindness, 1959; correspondence between Blunkett's mother and the Principal and Vice Principal of the Royal Normal College concerning Blunkett's health and wellbeing at school, and giving permission to take part in various activities, 1960-1967; correspondence with the Welfare of the Blind Department of the City of Sheffield concerning Blunkett's ambitions to be a teacher, 1963; correspondence between Blunkett and the College concerning his success is gaining qualifications from this study at Shrewsbury Technical College, 1966; correspondence concerning Blunkett finding employment as a shorthand typist on leaving the school, 1967; and correspondence between Blunkett and the Principal, Mr Lidster, on Blunkett's receipt of an unconditional offer from Sheffield University to study Politics and Modern History, 1969.
