Press cuttings and other material relating to David Blunkett's early political career in Sheffield including his role as a Councillor and his membership of various council committees, including his chairmanship of the Family and Community Services Committee. Includes articles relating to a family of recluses in Sheffield, whose children were taken into care, April-June 1979; cuts to social services budgets under the new Conservative government, July 1979. Also includes a copy of 'Social Work Today' containing an article by Blunkett about social services entitled 'The silent service', July 1979'; and typescript copy of an article 'The disabled person in the community: Education - separate or integrate', nd [1979].
