Scope and Contents
Press cuttings and other material relating to David Blunkett's early political career in Sheffield. Contains press cuttings concerning: local issues relating to Blunkett's role as a Councillor for Southey Green Ward, and his membership of various council committees; Blunkett's selection as the Labour Party candidate for Sheffield Hallam constituency; his appointment to the newly formed South Yorkshire County Council; and the local elections held in May 1973, including election leaflet for Blunkett and other candidates for Southey Green Ward. Also includes two copies of 'Education, Journal of the Association of Education Committees', including an article about Blunkett and his working methods, June 1973, and an article written by Blunkett concerning the education of blind children, November 1973; and a copy of an American magazine for the blind 'Dialogue with Intercom' including an article by Blunkett concerning his education, Spring 1973.
