Scope and Contents
A large collection of files relating to policy development mainly dating from 2011-2013. The majority (329 files) relate to Blunkett's campaign to establish a National Volunteer Programme (NVP) and the launch of a new charity, Future for Youth Foundation, established to help tackle the issue of youth unemployment, 2011-2014. Includes pamphlets, press releases and articles promoting the campaign to establish the volunteer programme; agendas and minutes of NVP Roundtable meetings including notes of a meeting with Prince Charles in February 2012; and key documents relating to Future For Youth Foundation including financial documents, letters to stakeholders, minutes and agendas for trustee/management meetings, financial documents and the organisation's business plan.
Also contains 2 files relating to proposed reform of the House of Lords, 2011-12; and material relating to the publication of Blunkett's pamphlet In Defence of Politics Revisited (September 2012) which called for a wide-ranging overhaul of the political process to counter the growing trend towards anti politics, technocracy, and political disengagement, including drafts, press releases and newspaper articles.
