The theatre play 'Il Monumento' was written by Eduardo de Filippo in 1970 and was adapted into an English version 'The Monument' written by Peter Tinniswood. The play was never performed on stage but Tinniswood adapted it into a radio play which was broadcast on BBC Radio 3 in 2000. Tinniswood also adapted two other plays written by Eduardo de Filippo 'The Heir' and 'Napoli Milionaria' which was performed at the National Theatre, London, in 1991.
