Scope and Contents
Scripts for series one and two of the BBC Radio 4 radio series 'Tales from the Backbench' written by Peter Tinniswood directed by Enyd Williams and starred Leslie Phillips. Series one consists of four episodes titled 'The General Thingermejig', 'Naming Names', 'The 1929 Committee' and 'The Great Snitcher'; and series two consists of four episodes titled 'The Campaign', 'How Long, How Long?', 'Dalliances' and 'Time to Confess'. The series was originally titled 'The Plympton Papers' before being retitled 'Tales from the Backbench'. It was broadcast as an eight part BBC Radio 4 series in 2001. The character Sir Plympton Makepeace first appeared in Tinniswood's radio play 'On The Whole It's Been Jolly Good'.
