Correspondence with constituents and others where Blunkett has taken up the subject with the Department for Transport. Mainly relates to transport issues but also includes regional and local government matters in the period 1997-2002, where the department was renamed the Department for the Environment, Transport and the Regions (DETR) (1997-2001) and Department for Transport, Local Government and the Regions (DTLR) (2001-2002) - see also 467/1/1/3. Subjects include: car emission limits, 1988; fitting of speed limiters to good vehicles - differences in EU and UK regulations, 1993; VAT on fuel and impact on disabled people, 1993; proposed changes to vehicle licensing and tax and the resulting impact on classic car owners, 1994; withdrawal of the No1 bus to Firshill, Sheffield, 2001; boundary changes and problems of non-registration, 2002; CCTV cameras on Tinsley viaduct, 2003; concessionary travel on Sheffield Supertram, 2005; lack of trading standards legislation for mini motorbikes, 2007; widening of the M1 motorway junctions 25-28, 2009; and the invention of security cord by a Sheffield company to prevent stowaways on HGVs, 2011.
