Diaries, 1935 - 1940

 Series
Reference code: 119/F

Scope and Contents

Diaries kept by Robert Saunders, during his time as a member of the British Union of Fascists (BUF). There are references to his political meetings and activities, as well as notes on farming, family matters and other personal interests and activities. Daily entries are brief, and there are gaps in coverage, particularly for the year 1935, and entries end abruptly when he was arrested and interned in early June 1940. The diaries are apparently very rare, having been produced for members of the BUF, and contain some prefatory material, such as an 'Outline History of the Movement', 'Ten Points of Fascist', and words to Fascist songs.
