Defence Regulation 18B and Union Movement correspondence, 1940 - 1953
Scope and Contents
This section of correspondence is from the period of Robert Saunders’ internment (3 June 1940 to 15 September 1941) under Defence Regulation 18B (in Walton Gaol, Ascot and York Racecourse Internment Camps, Peel Internment Camp in the Isle of Man, and Brixton Prison), and the years following his release, when he was in contact with other detainees and former local members of the British Union. There is also correspondence relating to the Wessex Book Club organised by Saunders following Mosley’s publication of “My Answer” in 1946, as well as his involvement in the Union Movement.
