Spanish Comfort, 1 February 1805
Scope and Contents
After: George Moutard Woodward. Published: Ackermann. A Spanish don stands full face, terrified and undecided, between Napoleon (l.) in crown and robe, and John Bull a burly sailor. The former, much smaller than his rival, threatens Spain with his left. fist; John uses both, and in more ominous proximity to his face. Napoleon says: "By my Imperial Dignity III thrash you if you do not fight!!!" John says: "And by my blue jacket and trousers I,ll drub you if you do!!!" The respective dogs of the rivals, a lean greyhound and a sturdy bull-dog, as in BMSat 5611, &c, bark at the Spaniard. Description from the British Museum.
