Scope and Contents

Artist: Isaac Cruikshank. Published: Ackermann. Napoleon stands with arms extended, legs astride, looking gloomily to the right. He is on a small piece of land jutting into the ocean. On the left. are two promontories, one fortified, the other bristling with tiny soldiers; on the right are two rocky fortified islands (perhaps indicating Malta). On the sea are ships. He sings (the words etched in the upper right. corner):

'Which way shall I turn me How can I deside The Prospects before me I long for to Stride But 'tis this way - or that way Or which way I will John Bull at his Post Is prepared with a pill.' Description from the British Museum.
