A middle-aged woman walks in profile to the right, wearing a high-crowned bonnet and a pelisse, buttoned from neck to hem, which projects before her, short enough to show her clumsy legs. Her hands are in a large muff. She says, "They'll certainly hear the news before I reach the long pavement". Behind her (Ieft) is the corner of a stone wall inscribed Stoney Street.
