Stanley Charles Booker attended Bristol Grammar School 1903-12 and was a protégé of Norwood's. Booker followed Norwood to St. John's College, Oxford in 1912, gaining a Second class in Classical Moderations in 1914. In March 1915 he joined the Worcestershire Regiment, serving as a lieutenant. He was killed in action attempting to save an injured comrade near Neuve Chapelle in northern France on 10th October 1916, aged 23, and is buried at St. Vaast, Pas-de-Calais
