Ellen Sanger, lion tamer and wife of 'Lord' George Sanger, traditionally played the role of Britannia for many years. Ellen died in 1899. She ceased playing Britannia sometime before and the role is said to have been taken over by Georgina Coleman (granddaughter of 'Lord' George Sanger) amongst others.

Cartes des visites studio photograph marked Mrs Reeve. This is believed to be Sarah Harriet Reeve daughter of George Sanger. Harriet (1860- 1929) was an equestrian performer. She married Arthur Reeve from Margate (son of the owner of The Hall by the Sea).
