Scope and Contents

Etchings and woodcut printing plates mounted on wooden blocks which feature images of fairground rides and fairground carved work made by Savage Brothers Ltd of King's Lynn. Some of the blocks have 'Savage Bros' handwritten on the edges. Some blocks are stamped by the maker 'C. W. Koppel draughtsman and engraver on wood, 74 Fleet Street, London, E. C.'. The printing blocks were used in the 1902 Savage Brothers Ltd Roundabouts catalogue which advertised the fairground machinery they could manufacture (see the NFCA pamphlet Illustrated Catalogue of Steam Roundabouts 1902 NFCA PAM Q SAVA/1808). Also includes a printing block featuring an image of Gary Smart and a metal printing plate for a poster for Billy Smart's Circus accompanied by a printing plate featuring an image of Billy Smart.
