 Person

Biography

Neil William Calladine is a fairground and circus enthusiast from Belper, Derbyshire, born in July 1951.

Neil is an accountant by trade with an intense interest in fairgrounds, circus and wall of death shows.

His passion for these types of travelling entertainment encouraged him to develop a career as an amateur historian and he regularly contributes articles to the World's Fair newspaper, the King Pole, the Fairground Mercury and the Platform among other specilist publications.

Neil worked as a spieler with Ken Fox the Wall of Death show. Neil first met Ken Fox at Rempstone Steam Rally while exhibiting his model wall of death and photographs. After this first introduction Neil was invited to visit Ken at his wall of death. By chance Ken's spieler had left the day before and Neil was asked to replace him.

From that point on Neil worked with the Ken Fox Wall of Death show, travelling around the fairgrounds with the Fox family.

Neil was the Director and Secretary of the Original Wall of Death Ltd from 2009 until his retirement in 2017. He is the editor of Proctor's Funfair, throughout the years! by showman Albert Proctor and the Treasurer of the Fairground Association of Great Britain.
