Biography

A comedian who was born in Tottenham. He became a well known figure for taking on the role of a riding master and conductor of the ring at Astlev’s Ampitheatre from 1819 to 1853. Whilst undertaking this, he toured the country as a comedian in the 1840’s. He also entered partnership with Charles Dillon at the Sheffield and Wolverhampton, although this only lasted a year. Clearly, he never achieved front rank status but audiences recognised his original humour and powerful facial expressions.
