Son of a Mrs Harriet, Mr Swinbourn was an actor who specialised in Shakespearian plays. He was described as “a sound actor”, in that he could portray any part without disaster. His spelling of his surname is sometimes misspelt; it can be noted that Swinbourn, Swinbourne and Swinburne often appear.
