Biography
A controversial figure whose personal life overshadowed his acting and his management roles. After being a resident of Sheffield on Campo Lane, he was declared bankrupt in December 1826. He was a womaniser too, fathering twenty children with numerous wives. His youngest, Henry became a successful theatre manager/actor.
