Biography
After appearing as “Romeo” in 1810, his roles followed a similar Romantic theme. His greatest achievement is returning King Lear back to its original, Shakespearian text after a lengthy time in English cinema following the different interpretation of Nahum Tate. In his later life, he continued acting and managed London’s Covent Garden. He retired in 1851 and died in Cheltenham in 1873.
