Biography

Although Mr Lacy made his West End stage debut in 1828, he quickly turned his hand to management thereafter. He managed the Theatre, Sheffield for two years, leaving on the 11th April 1842 and married actress Frances Dalton Cooper in the city in 1848. He withdrew from the stage in the mid 1840’s and set up a business as a theatrical bookseller in London. During this time, he turned his hand to publishing, producing ninety-nine volumes of “Lacy’s Acting Edition of Plays.” He died in Surrey aged 64.
