Biography
Rebecca Johnson aka Missy Macabre is a fakir performer from a long line of fairground and performers. Her family has British Romany roots. From the mid-1800s her family owned and ran boxing booths that toured fairgrounds in Southern England, and later family members owned and travelled with numerous fairs in southern England. Since 2006, she has continued the legacy of performing feats of physical endurance and traditional fairground ‘sideshow’ entertainment, where she explores the concepts of femininity, heritage and physicality onstage. Her performance style follows a long tradition of female stunt performers, fairground sideshows and tattooed bodies. Some of the stunts she performs are: Bed of Nails, walking on broken glass, bathing in a bath of broken glass, eating broken glass, human blockhead/nail in the nose, whip cracking, ladder of swords, human chopping board, human ashtray - cigar on tongue, concrete smash, fire eating, fire transfers, vapour tricks and large fire props.
