Biography

Dr Philip Harvey was educated at Oxford Polytechnic, Oxford University (Magdalen College) and Durham University (University College) where he received his PhD in Social Sciences in 1991. Dr. Harvey was appointed to the role of Registrar and Secretary at the University of Sheffield from 2009 until 2014. After his post at Sheffield he joined the Royal College of Art, as Executive Director in the Vice-Chancellors office. Dr. Harvey has held a number of university company Directorships and was an elected member of the UK Association of Heads of University Administration (AHUA) between 2008 and 2014. He was an external member of the Oxford University Student Union Board of Trustees between 2011 and 2015 and in 2014, he was elected Chair and governing body for the Heads of University Management and Administration Network in Europe (HUMANE). He was inaugural Chair of the Asia-Pacific School in Hong Kong in 2017 and is also a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.
