General Context

Lucien Kroll was a Belgium architect who was born in Brussels in 1927. With his wife Simone Kroll, he founded the Atelier de Architecture Simone and Lucient Kroll, and they are considered to be the founders of participatory architecture, a consultative approach to the design of buildings. Kroll's most famous building is La Mémé, a building complex for the Medical Faculty of the University of Louvain, Belgium, built between 1970 to 1976.
