Biography
Georg Kulovits aka Togare was a wild cat tamer originally from Germany. Togare was known as ‘The Valentino of the Ring’ due to his good looks and athletic physique, which helped promote his fame as a showman.
Togare came to the UK to work for Bertram Mills Circus from Circus Krone in 1928. He performed in Olympia to great success during this season and travelled with The Great Carmo Circus, which partnered up with Mills to experiment with launching their own travelling circus.
In 1930 Togare famously rescued his lions during a fire and nursed them back to health, for which he received various awards.
During his career Togare worked in the UK and Europe with Carmo Circus, Bertram Mills, Sarrasani, krone and Medrano among others.
