Biography

Sir Arthur John Hall (1866-1951) enrolled in the Sheffield Medical School in 1883, but left shortly afterwards to study first in Cambridge and then at St. Bartholomew’s in London. He returned to Sheffield in 1889 as a member of staff of the Medical School. He rose to be Professor of Medicine in 1915, a post he held until 1931. Hall's efforts on behalf of the study and teaching of medicine in Sheffield, his work for the benefit of the College and the University, and his research, made him highly respected not only in the City but in the academic community in general.
