Albert Henry Hengler was the third son of Charles Hengler and Mary Ann Frances Sprake. Albert was born on 10 August 1862, in Liverpool. Although his father did not want him to enter the family business, Albert started to act as his secretary after he completed his academic formation and after four years he was fully involved in the circus business. Albert became circus manager in 1886 just a year before his father’s death, when he became co-director with his brother Fred. In 1889 Fred when died Albert became the sole owner of Henger’s Circus.
Albert developed the spectacular side of the business, writing pantomimes and sketches from an early age and added a water spectacle to the shows.
Albert struggled to maintain the breath of his father's circuses and one by one Hengler’s Circus was diminished until the final closure of the Glasgow building in 1924.
Albert died on 13 June 1937 in Hove.
