Biography

Jack Stephens was born and lived his whole life at Tewkesbury. Jack was a fairground enthusiast with a strong interest in Victorian engineer Thomas Walker, who built fairground rides at Tewkesbury, and conducted a large volume of research on him. However, Jack never published his research himself, he provided much of it to Graham Downie and Dr John Middlemiss for their 2008 publication 'Thomas Walker Builder of Steam Roundabouts'. Jack was also a keen photographer and produced many fairground images, most of which are now at the National Fairground and Circus Archive.
