Biography
The Royal Casino in Westbar, Sheffield, whose proprietor was Thomas Youdan, opened on 17 March 1849 and ran as a music hall. In 1850, Youdan changed the name to Surrey Music Hall and not long after changed the name again to Surrey Theatre. The theatre was destroyed by fire on 1 April 1865. Youdan went on to reopen the Adelphi Theatre in Furnival Road and Blonk Street as Alexandra Music Hall on 13 October 1865 as a replacement for the destroyed Surrey Theatre.
