Biography
Cirque Archaos was a French circus created by Pierrot Bidon (1954-2010) in 1986. Archaos offered an alternative to traditional circus and animal performance between the 1980s and 1990s, with a strong emphasis in dare devil stunt performances, which made them a pioneer of contemporary circus.
Archaos had a strong influence in the development of British contemporary circus and inspired the creation of many new circuses such as The Circus of Horrors.
Today, Archaos is based in Marseille, France, and is a designated Pôle National des Arts du Cirque. Archaos is also the main organiser of the Biennale Internationale des Arts du Cirque, the world's largest contemporary circus festival.
