Biography

The Empire Palace in Birmingham was built on the site of the Day's Crystal Palace Concert Hall by architect Frank Matcham a year after the closure of the Hall and opened to the public on 7 May 1894. The Empire operated successfully until it was destroyed by enemy action in 1941. The building was demolishes in 1951.
