Biography

Browns Foundry Co. was established in Nottingham Road, Derby in 1869 as Messrs. Brown and Co. The name was changed to Browns Foundry in 1897 when the company was converted into a private company.

Browns continues trading in Derby in the twenty first century supplying building materials to the trade and public. It has been operating since 1990 under the name of Brown Builders Merchants Ltd.

This collection contains a large selection of archives from the Orton and Spooner Company.
