Biography

The BCRA was inaugurated in 1944, and incorporated several regional Associations and Committees carrying out research such as the Midland Coke Research Committee (MCRC). The MCRC was established in 1926, and based in the Department of Fuel Technology in St. GeorgeĀ“s building at the University of Sheffield. The secretary (later Director) was R.A. Mott. From 1926 to 1927 the Committee carried the title of Blast Furnace Coke Research Committee (Yorkshire and Derbyshire Coalfields). On the formation of the British Coke Research Association, the MCRC gradually wound down, and was dissolved in December 1946.

The BCRA went into voluntary liquidation in 1983.
